Watch the video for Jim Legxacy's "Block Hug"
Jim Legxacy, the southeast London artist has perfected his version of genre-bending. He seemingly blends, R&B, HipHop, Pop, Emo, and Lo-Fi sounds to create this amalgamation that takes you on a ride with every song. Legxacy singswith mesmerizing ethereal melodies that can sometimes form into your traditional UK rap or something entirely different. His most recent project titled, Homeless Nigga Pop Music is the perfect representation of Legxacy's inspirations andcurrent outlook on life. Legxacy has constantly been an advocate for being true to one's self. HNPM was inspired by thatvery ethos "my mum said something to me a few years back & I remember sampling it on the end of my last tape, whereshe says that u have to learn how to put joy in our life, and I think that what this tape is for me man, I made it during daworst most uncertain period of my life & it became this world where I jus freely expressed myself, where melded all myinfluences without really caring about how people would receive it & how it would be taken in.
His latest song "Block Hug" is probably the best example we can give of what you can expect from the UK artist. Blockhug was released about a month ago and is one of the singles from HNPM. The video is this contradictory visual ride, the song itself is melodic and ethereal all while Jim is on the block positioned in front of a group of what I can only assume are his closest friends. The video reminds me of those memes where the song doesn't match the video, but that's one ofJim's strengths, he is able to leave his point across and use multiple mediums to display that.
