Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage Destroys Box Office

In the land of post Covid-19 shutdowns, it seems theaters and movies are slowing trying to make their way back. Over the weekend the highly anticipated sequel Venom 2 Let There Be Carnage hit the silver screen. The movie was teased during the end credit scene of the first Venom where we saw the antagonist Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) visit Kledus Cassidy (Woody Harrelson) in prison.

Venom 2 follows Cassidy as he has escaped from prison and is wreaking Carnage. The movie comes to us a time where Marvel fans have been patiently waiting for Disney take on the multiverse and what those plans look like. So it does not surprise when we find out that Spider-man’s Nemeses drew in 90.1 Million dollars opening weekend, beating the original film. This achievement also marked the biggest three-day weekend of the pandemic era, and the second-best October opening ever behind Joker‘s $96.2 million opening. As far as recent Marvel/MCU movies Venom 2 beat out Shang Chi:The Legend of The Ten Rings ( $75.3 m) and Black Widow ( $80m) on their opening weekend.

It seems Sony with the help of Kevin Fiege has finally figured out a formula for success for their “Venomverse” and it could not have come at a better time, with Sony’s plans to release more movies like Morbius. If you haven't seen Venon 2 Let There Be Carnage yet I suggest you swing your way to the nearest theater and watch it.
