Soundtrack Roadmap: Eddie Hernandez
Take a look ant the music that has help shape the life of Eddie Hernandez, the current mind behind Nano's Barbershop/Skateshop!
Everyone's life is dictated by the music they listen too, from when they were old enough to understand what music is to making decisions in their everyday life. Soundtrack Roadmap was created to map out the lives of the creatives we know through the music they grew up listening too. What song reminds you most of your childhood?
Nuthin But A "G" Thang by Dr. Dre. My Dad had an El Camino and Dayton wheels and this is my earliest memory of cruising.
What song best represents your hometown?
Sam Cooke "A Change Is Gunna Come." As Bakersfield gets bigger we are hoping for a more diverse change in our community.
What was the first physical cd you purchased ?
I bought 3 at once. Wu Tang Wu Tang Forever, 311 Transistor, and Beastie Boys ill Communication. My Mom had the plug at Sam goodies back in the day so we would get so much different music. These are what I was into in 1997
Favorite song in College/early 20's?
The Grouch "Simple Man." The Grouch is from a group call Living legends and I felt related to this guy. During this time "rap" was all bling and 20 inch wheels and I had none of these things, just my skateboard.
What songs reminds you of a specific place you’ve traveled?
"Lights" by Journey [San Francisco]. I went on a bunch of skate trips to SF and this song just hit when we were out fucking around drinking and burning.
What’s song inspires you to create?
Any song off Talib Kweli's "train of thought" album. this album was just lyrically on point and the sounds and tones were immersive so the vibe just pushes me to create.
First song likely to get played in your car?
"Great big bundle of love." J&J. I love this whole modern soul movement and this jam just has a jump start feel to get you going.
What’s a song you wished you could have wrote or made?
Gang Starr "Above The Clouds." I mean it just hits hard AF
Best song to play at a party?
"Bounce, Rock, Skate, Roll" By Vaughan Mason & Crew This song Definitely gets everyone popping.
What’s song are we playing at your funeral?
"Spirit in the sky" Norman Greenbaum. This song has an uplifting sound and the lyrics are good.
Song tied to the best memory you’ve had?
MGMT "Electric Feel". So many spontaneous dance parties with my wife and kids when this song comes on. the joy and laughter from my family are priceless moments.
The world is taken over by aliens and you’re chosen to represent the human race. You have to play a song that will convince the aliens that we are worth saving. What’s song are you playing?
Deltron 3030 "Madness". This whole album is about our society in the future.
Thank you Eddie Hernandez
